Our Alumni have a lot of good things to say about their experiences and education at High Point University's Home Furnishings & Design Program.

Location, location, location
With High Point being the mecca of the furniture industry, the resources and opportunities available are unmatched in any other furniture/design program. The classrooms were only the beginning of the program, which included CEO guest speakers, plant tours, showroom visits, internships, and most importantly a first-hand look at the furniture world we were about to enter.
Dual majors, double the strengths
At High Point both interior design and furniture marketing coexist and students gain valuable knowledge in both fields, better preparing them for a competitive workforce in any component of the home furnishings industry.
Business savvy
High Point’s Furniture and Design program teaches students how to turn their design passion into a successful career by not only focusing on design, but business, finance, and marketing as well. After all, you are born with or without a sense of design, but it always helps to learn how to read an income statement.
Outstanding Faculty
In an especially difficult economy, it is an excellent benefit to students to be taught by professors who not only know the industry, but also have experience in their fields, and keep current with those fields. It also helps when the professor teaching the course wrote the book on the topic, literally.
Interest in student success
One of the most valuable aspects of my time at High Point University was that the faculty truly took and interest in my success, not only as a student, but as a future member of the furniture industry. My professors taught on a personal level with an open door policy, and I knew that I was welcome at any time to call on them for instruction, help, or advice.
Springboard to my career
I was one of those students who looked at college as the true beginning of my career. My time at High Point University was not only about the lessons learned in the classroom, but also about meeting people in the industry, learning from every possible resource, and gathering as much knowledge and experience as I could to launch my career. The great thing about High Point is that all of those around me (students, professors, and advisors alike) also took an interest in helping me launch that career. I will always be grateful to those at High Point, for without them I would not have in any way landed on my feet after graduation. Overall, I chose High Point University for its location; I stayed there because of its people.
